
New Beginnings
Our Fresno State student chapter was recently founded in 2017 and is steadly growing. The goal of CalGeo at Fresno State is to help students create relationships with professionals in the field. Our chapter achieves this goal through several events such as: participation in the GeoWall competition at Mid-Pac, and field trips to project sites.

Jaime Murguia, President
Jaime is currently a 4th year Civil Engineering student with a junior standing. Looking to graduate in the Fall of 2019, he joined CalGeo because he wanted to be more involved on campus. He has felt that being involved with CalGeo has improved his networking skills and leadership skills. He is striving to meet new people on campus and enjoys giving and receiving advice from students and faculty alike.
Jennifer Proctor, Vice President
Jennifer Proctor is the current Vice-President and founding member of CalGeo at Fresno State. She is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering emphasizing in Geotechnical Engineering. Jennifer is involved in similar organizations such as ASCE, Chi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, and APWA. On her spare time, Jennifer enjoys reading, playing video games and shooting.


Eleazar Saldana, Secretary
Eleazar is our current secretary, he is a junior and is planning on graduation in the Fall of 2019. Eleazar join CalGeo to help his professional career by making connections with students and professional engineers alike; both that could become future mentors before and after graduation. When he is not attending to CalGeo duties he enjoys video games and running.

Ivan Reynaga , Upper Division Representative
Ivan is our current Upper Division Rep. He is a Junior Civil Engineering student at CSU Fresno and is looking to graduate in the Fall of 2019. He joined CalGeo because he wanted to widen his knowledge in the study of geotechnical engineering. Being involved with CalGeo, he has gained valuable knowledge in both the academic and professional aspect. He believes the best part of CalGeo is the people and the great community that has come to be in such a short time.

Jasbir Kaur, Funding Representative
Jasbir is out current funding representative, she is junior standing as a Civil Engineering major with an emphasis in geotechnical and structural design. She says that joining CalGeo has helped her connect with the geotechnical community and build professional contacts, and without CalGeo she would not have been able to do so. In her eyes, the best part about CalGeo is the people and the way we always have a good time..

Sebastian Jue, Treasurer
Sebastian aka "Seabass" is our current Treasurer, he a junior Civil Engineering Major at CSU Fresno and is looking to graduate in the Spring of 2019. He joined CalGeo to be involved witha geotechnical organizations on campus to better network within that field of study. He believes the best part of CalGeo is the opportunity to network with local geotechincal firms here in the area. During his spare time, he enjoys wieght lifting, playing video games, and trying new foods.

Haya Qutob, Lower Division Representative
Haya is our current Lower Division Rep., she is a Senior Civil Engineering Studnet at CSU Fresno and is looking to graduate in the Fall of 2018. She joined CalGeo to become more involved in school associations and to network within the geotechnical commuity. CalGeo has helped her by allowing her to meet new people and make friends along the way, and she believes that is the best part about CalGeo.

Mathew Peters, Historian
Mathew is out current Historian, he is a Junior standing and is looking to graduate in the Fall of 2020. He joined CalGeo to help young members get involved and to understand what a professional environment is truly like. CalGeo has helped him by allowing him better his communication skills and team working skills as a whole. He hopes to show the underclassmen the benefits of getting involved and how it can help them during school and after graduation.

CalGeo Advisors
Dr. Lalita Oka
Hi there! This is Lalita Oka. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering at California State University, Fresno. Lalita has a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. She teaches various undergraduate and graduate level courses in Geotechnical Engineering at Fresno State. Her research interest include but are not limited to: Experimental Geomechanics, Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and Numerical Modeling. Recent/Ongoing Projects: Groundwater recharge modeling, Freeze-thaw testing of pervious concrete, Bio-inspired stability of slopes.

Dr. Arezoo Sadrinezhad
Dr. Arezoo Sadrinezhad is an assistant professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the Lyles College of Engineering at Fresno State. She received her Master's degree in Earthquake Engineering and her PhD in Geotechnical Engineering. Prior to pursuing a PhD, Dr. Sadrinezhad worked as a seismic specialist and design engineer. Her research interests are in probabilistic constitutive modeling of soils, seismic design of structures/geostructures, and performance based design.
