Fresno State students competed against 13 universities from Northern California, Nevada, and China in the 2017 Mid-Pacific conference (Mid-Pac) hosted at California State University, Chico.

The GeoWall competition introduces students to the design and development of a Mechanically Stabilized Earthwall (MSE) following the rules set by the ASCE Geo-Institute. The objective is for students to design the MSE wall using the least amount of reinforcement needed to support the soil and design loads. Fresno State’s GeoWall design received first place in aesthetics out of the nine universities that competed.
